Hotelschool The Hague was founded and funded by the hospitality industry in 1929. The aim was to create a place where industry partners could gain and share new skills, knowledge and insights.Since its foundation, the Hotelschool has become an international school specialised in hospitality management offering a 4-year Bachelor’s degree in Hotel and Hospitality Management.
The Bachelor programme is developed from the demands of the Industry, the school’s curriculum is designed to challenge you. You aren’t just taught management theories, you apply them directly in practice whilst working on your personal development. You combine individual learning with group work. With your team you work on case studies, working for real life companies.The MBA Programme reflects the importance of customer centricity and service leadership in today’s business environment. You learn to analyse existing service models, and design, create and innovate alternative business models and concepts.
We are also home to one of the leading Hospitality Research Centres where we conduct research into innovations in the hospitality industry. Our Hospitality Consultancy division advises and trains hospitality business professionals, either in company or at our annual summer schools.The results from both divisions are quickly assimilated in our educational programmes so that our students learn from state of the art hospitality business cases; a continual programme of curriculum improvement.
During the 4-year Bachelor Programme you follow two external internships as well as two internal operational training courses. In Phase I you gain practical hospitality experience, working for 10 weeks in our own facilities. In addition, on completion of Phase I, you go on a 5 month internship in one of the 4 or 5 star hotels, in Europe.
In Phase II includes an intensive leadership training programme in the Ardennes, where you experience and experiment with different management styles and approaches. This prepares for the 10 week leadership role, managing a team in one of our facilities.In Phase III, you’ll have management internship at an organisation of your choice, from Amsterdam to Beijing.

For the first year at Hotelschool The Hague, you live in the student residence, the Skotel. The Skotel is both your home and the school’s training hotel. Living in the Skotel is part of the Bachelor Hospitality Management programme. As you live together and share a room you learn how to socially and cross-culturally interact with fellow students while improving your personal skills in many different ways.The Skotel in The Hague is both a 10 minute walk from the school and the beach. You will stay in a double room with a shared bathroom. In the lobby of the Skotel you can find a breakfast area, a Laundromat and a sports hall for a game of football or basketball.
The media centres at both campuses have a specialised collection, comprising an impressive amount of information about the field of hospitality: more than 20.130 books, 77 trade journals, 150 specialists’ magazines in different languages, as well as a wide collection of (research) reports written by students. You can find several computers and laptop connections where you can work individually.
Computer rooms are available at both of the faculties, the media centre and study areas. Students can also bring their own laptop campus throughout which wireless internet is available.
Amsterdam or The Hague?
You’ll feel immediately at home at either one of our excellently facilitated campuses. In The Hague, you live and learn in the lively coastal resort and port of Scheveningen, both close to The Hague’s city centre and very close to the beach.The Skotel is a 10 minute walk away from school. In Amsterdam, both the school and the Skotel are located in the same, completely refurbished building, just outside the beautiful and historic centre of Amsterdam.
