History
The "Kaiser-Wilhelm-Institut für Hirnforschung" (KWI for Brain Research) was founded in Berlin in 1914, making it one of the oldest institutes of the "Kaiser Wilhelm Society for the Advancement of Science", itself founded in 1911.
Research
Brain circuits can be studied at many levels and scales. The intracellular networks of synaptic proteins, for example, include all essential features of circuits: diverse and interacting elements, communication, regulation, feedback and dynamics. Neural circuits are another fundamental unit of brain function: circuits transform inputs (external or internal) into adaptive outputs (behaviors, percepts etc), according to rules that often emerge from their cellular components, their connectomes or connectivity graphs, and their interactions in time.

A Journey of Learning and Growth
My study experience has been both meaningful and enriching. I study at SMAN 8 Jakarta, a public senior high school that is nationally recognized as the top-ranked public high school in Indonesia. What I really liked was the supportive learning environment, where teachers were approachable and encouraged active participation. The curriculum was well-structured and helped me develop not only academic knowledge but also critical thinking and discipline. In addition, collaborating with classmates allowed me to improve my communication and teamwork skills. However, there are still some aspects that can be improved, such as providing more practical activities and real-world case studies to strengthen the connection between theory and application. Overall, I would summarise my study experience as challenging yet rewarding, as it has helped shape my personal growth, academic abilities, and readiness for future opportunities.
