Overview
Global Health at York University combines scientific, social and policy perspectives to prepare students to respond to global health challenges. The Global Health curriculum balances anatomy and physiology with studies of determinants, governance, law and ethics, giving learners tools to analyse pandemics, climate impacts and chronic disease across populations. Students gain theoretical grounding alongside opportunities for practical enquiry and applied practice.
Why Global Health at York University?
York's Global Health programme is presented as Canada's first undergraduate degree of its kind, offering a distinctive multidisciplinary focus that links health sciences with policy, law and environmental studies. The Faculty of Health positions students within a close‑knit learning community where small class sizes and personalised faculty support are emphasised.
Teaching integrates classroom work with experiential components: practicums, case studies, simulations and options for co‑op or internship. Global learning and summer abroad opportunities are highlighted for students seeking international exposure. The Specialised Honours pathway lets senior students undertake a practice‑based or research practicum in Toronto or overseas, applying skills to real‑world contexts.
