The vision of the Sport and Exercise Science Department from University of the Western Cape is to empower individuals through quality education to contribute to the development of healthy communities.

The SRES Department strives to be a centre of excellence in the provision of competent and professional practitioners through    innovative research and creative teaching who  will contribute to the development of healthy communities through sport, recreation and exercise  science.

  • We unfortunately will not be able to respond to your application until you submit a confirmation letter issued by HESA stating that you qualify to study at a South African University.

MERIT AWARDS FOR FIRST YEARS

CRITERIA

Applicable to South African Citizens and permanent residents only who have matriculated the year prior to first enrolment

APPLICATION PROCESS

Student must apply via Financial Aid office at the beginning of the institutions academic year

ALLOCATION OF FUNDING

Level 7 - 100% tuition fees

Level 6 - 75% tuition fee

UWC SENIOR BURSARY AWARDS

CRITERIA

Applicable to South African Citizens and permanent residents

Criteria is based on academic performance and need

APPLICATION PROCESS

All Senior undergraduate students who applied for financial aid and qualifies with a 65% and above average

ALLOCATION OF FUNDING

Part of tuition fees only

NSFAS LOAN/BURSARY

CRITERIA

Applicable to South African citizens and permanent residents

All registered Full-time undergraduate Degree students who were promoted previous year and obtained an average of 55% and above

APPLICATION PROCESS

Seniors must apply in the previous year

New First year students when they are accepted at University

ALLOCATION OF FUNDING

Amount allocated will depend on the students individual need as indicated by the Nsfas Means test.

Depending on your end year results up to 40% of your Nsfas loan may be converted into a bursary.

Repayment commences when the student completes their studies and not surety is required

Nsfas also has full cost bursaries available to students depending on course registered as well as availability of funding.

New First Years – 29 February 2016

OTHER BURSARIES

All students in receipt of a bursary must submit proof of bursary to the Financial Aid Office prior to registration which will be forwarded to Student Credit Management for clearance

Full cost bursary Holders pay the minimum registration fees

Registration for part cost bursary holders will depend on the allocated amount of the bursary
