Overview

The first year of undergraduate study for an Arts degree from University of the Western Cape offers a broad grounding in at least four subjects, improving students’ general knowledge and developing important thinking, communication, study and information technology skills. In the second and third year of the BA and BTh there is greater focus on the specific subjects which make up the majors of the degrees.

NSFAS LOAN/BURSARY

CRITERIA

Applicable to South African citizens and permanent residents

All registered Full-time undergraduate Degree students who were promoted previous year and obtained an average of 55% and above

APPLICATION PROCESS

Seniors must apply in the previous year

New First year students when they are accepted at University

ALLOCATION OF FUNDING

Amount allocated will depend on the students individual need as indicated by the Nsfas Means test.

Depending on your end year results up to 40% of your Nsfas loan may be converted into a bursary.

Repayment commences when the student completes their studies and not surety is required

Nsfas also has full cost bursaries available to students depending on course registered as well as availability of funding.

OTHER BURSARIES

All students in receipt of a bursary must submit proof of bursary to the Financial Aid Office prior to registration which will be forwarded to Student Credit Management for clearance

Full cost bursary Holders pay the minimum registration fees

Registration for part cost bursary holders will depend on the allocated amount of the bursary
