About

Textile Art, Design and Fashion (Hons) degree offered at Ulster University provides diverse learning experiences ensuring students have the confidence, and skills for a future in textiles and fashion.

Overview

Our approach to textiles and fashion explores both tradition and innovation in well equipped studios and workshops. Students can choose to approach the range of disciplines as artists, designers or makers and are supported to achieve career goals in professional practice modules, work based learning, and competitions.

Textile Art, Design and Fashion (Hons) degree offered at Ulster University provides excellent learning opportunities in embroidery, stitch, print, knit, weave, pattern cutting, digital technologies and CAD. We offer the opportunity to experience traditional skills, digital technology and art and design practice. After a broad based first year learning fundamental workshop, visual literacy and contextual study skills, a second year explores two and three dimensional thinking and processes in depth. In final year students write their own programme and the year has an additional graduate skills focus to ensure each student is ready for the next stage. Throughout the course, support and guidance is given as students develop their practice in one of three pathways, Artist, Designer or Maker.
