Overview
Commercial functions such as strategy development, marketing, controlling, acquisition and consulting have become more important for chemists.
It is therefore increasingly relevant that chemistry and business expertise be combined at management level in innovative companies.
The chemical and pharmaceutical industry as well as the finance sector, service organizations and public authorities have a growing interest in employees who possess both excellent scientific qualifications and sound knowledge of business processes – and who have already practiced taking a corporate approach during their studies.
The integrated Chemistry and Business Studies program from University of Zurich is a practical combination of science and business studies.
This newly conceived program gives students the opportunity to acquire the comprehensive scientific and business background needed to be competitive in the employment market - all within a short period of time and without the need for expensive, time-consuming additional study.
The program provides students with the theoretical and practical basis of chemistry and a first look at research. At the same time, students become familiar with current economic theories, thus learning how to think and act in the world of business.
Thanks to the combination of two fields that are significant and fundamental to the economy, varied and exciting employment opportunities are open to graduates of the program.
Career options
Successful completion of the degree program results in a Bachelor of Science degree. This qualifies students for positions where recognizing correlations and an independent approach are in demand. Service providers are a typical example.
A large number of companies increasingly seek employees who can work independently, think analytically and who have a strong background in science and business.
