The bachelor of Education (Primary) offered at the University of Queensland  is a four-year program that will provide you with the high-level knowledge and professional skills necessary to foster children’s learning and development from prep (the first year of school) through to Year 6.


Benefit from a program that covers all aspects of the Australian Curriculum. You'll also develop understanding in key areas like teaching and learning, child development, diversity and inclusion, and Indigenous knowledge and education.

Complete your core education courses, but also develop expertise in subject areas that are offered as minors. 

Minors cover topics from the sciences, mathematics, humanities, languages, technology, the arts and more.Be confident and ready to enter the classroom after 80 days of supervised professional experience across your program. Placements are designed to consolidate your knowledge with the aim of meeting competency standards for registration. The bachelor of Education (Primary) course is offered at the University of Queensland 

Career outcomes

Bachelor of Education (Primary) graduates are eligible to register with the Queensland College of Teachers (QCT), as well as other authorities, to teach in schools around Australia, and some worldwide.

Once registered, graduates can work as a primary school teacher in state or independent schools in Queensland, interstate or overseas, or undertake further study to qualify as a principal, mentor, curriculum advisor, or a guidance or career officer or head of department.

Other graduates choose to work with non-school-based education providers (such as tutoring companies), government agencies or education advocacy organisations.
