The Bachelor of Science in International Economics and Finance at Università Commerciale Luigi Bocconi trains the future generation of economics and financial experts, who can adapt to an environment that is constantly subject to change, in order to perfect their inclination towards a global thinking perspective.


You will understand and analyze economics and financial phenomena in an international perspective and get a solid education built on rigorous quantitative and qualitative tools.

You can choose between two majors. In the Economics major, a sound methodological background gives you the tools to understand a large set of issues: globalization, international and monetary macroeconomics, competition policy, political economics and development economics. Career Opportunities

As a general rule, the majority of graduates in International Economics and Finance continue their path in a graduate program; graduates may also have direct access to the labor market.

In this case, career opportunities are usually the following:

Major in Finance:

Junior positions in financial institutions (banks, asset management companies, leasing and factoring companies, etc.) as a financial analyst or as an interface with customers as well as junior positions in companies working in finance or related functions that involve international and multicultural work teams;

Major in Economics:

Junior positions in supranational institutions, research organizations or companies, private or public institutions, middle-large size companies analyzing the economic system, particularly supranational and international issues, and junior positions in companies with a global outlook to deal with external authorities with reference to international issues (intellectual property, antitrust, etc.).

Programme Structure

The first three semesters introduce you to the fundamental notions and concepts concerning the study of management, economics, quantitative methods, accounting, finance and commercial law, with a clear focus on the international aspects of these fields of knowledge.

After the common curriculum courses, you can choose between the major in Economics and the major in Finance.

During the final part of the program, you have the opportunity to further boost the international profile of your education by studying at leading universities abroad and/or by undertaking internships in Italy or abroad. Internships, exchange programs and innovative teaching methods enable you to sharpen your problem solving approach and develop lateral thinking skills.

English Language Requirements

You only need to take one of these language tests:

    The IELTS – or the International English Language Test System – tests your English-language abilities (writing, listening, speaking, and reading) on a scale of 1.00–9.00. Academic Requirements

Each year, Bocconi University establishes the number of students who may be admitted to its programs, to ensure the best welcome, promote success during the study program and facilitate graduates’ entrance into the labour market.

Category of applicants

The categories of applicants vary based on the secondary school attended: Italian applicants, international applicants, talent students, applicants transferring from another University.

Elements of evaluation

Profiles will be evaluated based on the following elements:
  • performance on aptitude test;
  • school transcripts;
  • language and/or IT certificates (if available);
  • activities summary and personal statement.

Completing the Admission Application

Admitted applicants will receive an offer that depends on meeting several curricular requirements:
  • completion of a secondary school diploma by July 2016 valid for the purposes of enrollment in a first-level degree program;
  • meeting the language requirement which varies depending on the language of the degree program of enrollment: degree programs taught in English (by June 2016)
In order to confirm the offer, admitted students must complete enrollment by the specified deadline.

The Admissions Committee of applicants' admission results by considering each applicant’s personal background and choices expressed, assessing the complete profile and considering the spots places available for in the application session.

Within the timelines defined for the various application sessions, applicants may view the results by accessing the “My Application” with their login information.

The language requirements vary from Home University to Home University: TOEFL iBt 76-100, IELTS 6-7 .

Università Bocconi has a detailed system of tuition and fees, financial assistance and exemptions, aimed at providing all students the necessary financial means to complete their studies.

Therefore, in order to ensure a fair tuition system, for the three-year Bachelor programs in Economics and the five-year degree program in Law, Università Bocconi foresees a yearly tuition fees which amounts to approximately € 11,000 which is equal to the 4th income bracket, and 3 reduced income brackets, adjusted to the economic and patrimony conditions of the student's original and de facto family.
