Overview
It suits those who don’t meet the standard entry requirements, or who have been out of education for a while. It runs for 4 years full-time, in a blended format at the Birmingham, London (Holborn and Stratford) and Manchester centres. The first year is a foundation year that builds study skills and subject knowledge, and it leads into the three years of the law degree itself.
At the start of Level 6 you choose a pathway that matches your goals. The SQE pathway prepares you for the Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE1). The Bar pathway is for aspiring barristers and includes EU Law. The International Bar pathway is more international in scope and is aimed at those who want to practise outside the UK. Assessment at Levels 4 and 5 usually combines a multiple-choice exam with other tasks such as advocacy, drafting exercises, portfolios and coursework. The course also includes a virtual law firm that simulates real legal practice and a virtual consumer advice clinic where students can volunteer. You also get a legal careers consultant and free access to the Lexis+ legal research platform.
