Criminology and Psychology With Foundation Year (Hons) Arden University Online

Overview

The Criminology and Psychology With Foundation Year (Hons) at Arden University Online runs for 4 years full-time, in a blended format at the Birmingham, Leeds, London (Ealing, Holborn and Stratford), Manchester, Newcastle and Nottingham centres, with weekday or evening classes. The foundation year builds academic skills and subject knowledge for university study.

The two disciplines carry equal weight. You study the criminal justice system, crime, punishment and prevention, and you look at high-profile cases through the eyes of a forensic psychologist. You also study personality, development and social psychology theories. The content has a global rather than a Western-centred focus. The course has its own support system, including a personal tutor, weekly virtual drop-ins with the programme lead, assessment workshops and office hours with module leaders. It also offers volunteer roles such as Volunteer Lecturing Assistant, Volunteer Research Assistant and the Virtual Programme Group. There are no exams. Assessment is through essays, reports, presentations, case studies, portfolios, role plays and a research proposal.
