Overview

Students study programming, algorithms, data structures, software engineering, artificial intelligence, and machine learning. The Computer Science and Engineering course at American University of Beirut - Mediterraneo  benefits from close ties with AUB Beirut's Maroun Semaan Faculty of Engineering and Architecture — one of the region's leading engineering schools. Students earn an EU-recognised (CYQAA), American-accredited degree in Pafos, Cyprus, with a compulsory Beirut Residency enriching the overall experience.

This four-year BS is offered by AUB Mediterraneo, the Cyprus twin campus of the American University of Beirut. The programme combines computer science, engineering foundations, programming, digital systems, software engineering, artificial intelligence, and advanced technical electives. Students complete a compulsory internship and a capstone project or thesis, giving them practical experience alongside advanced technical training. Students graduate with a CYQAA-accredited degree from AUB Mediterraneo. Students enrolling from Fall 2025 onward are charged at the Arts and Sciences programme rate until graduation. Merit scholarships and financial aid may be available.

Learning Outcomes

Students who complete the BS in CSE program will be able to:

• Analyze a complex computing problem and apply principles of computing and other relevant disciplines to identify solutions.

• Design, implement, and evaluate a computing-based solution to meet a given set of computing requirements in the context of the program’s discipline.

• Identify, formulate, and solve complex engineering problems efficiently by applying principles of engineering, science, and mathematics.

• Evaluate and adopt ethical standards and sustainability practices in the design and deployment of computing and computer engineering systems.

• Manage software and engineering projects by applying leadership, critical thinking, and decision-making skills in real-world, complex environments.

• Communicate effectively both orally and in writing, particularly in documenting and presenting systems design and software solutions.
