The Philosophy, Politics, and Economics course at American University of Beirut - Mediterraneo combines three disciplines essential for understanding society. Students develop critical thinking through ethical reasoning, political systems, and economic principles, within an American liberal arts framework that encourages breadth across disciplines. Located in Pafos, Cyprus — an EU member state — students earn a CYQAA-accredited degree from AUB Mediterraneo. The compulsory Beirut Residency adds an immersive cross-cultural dimension unique to this programme.
This four-year BA is offered by AUB Mediterraneo, the Cyprus twin campus of the American University of Beirut. The programme follows an American liberal arts approach, combining structured core courses with electives that allow students to shape their academic pathway over time. Students graduate with a CYQAA-accredited degree from AUB Mediterraneo, with a strong interdisciplinary foundation for careers or further study in policy, law, economics, international affairs, public service, research, or related fields. General requirements
- ABB, including an A in Mathematics or Further Mathematics, plus two non-language subjects.
- Applicants are expected to meet the Arts entrance requirements: minimum SAT superscore of 1130 in Reading and Writing + Math, or ACT superscore composite of 23. Admission is also conditional on meeting the English language requirement, completing Grade 12, and submitting a certificate or diploma confirming successful completion of secondary education, such as a high school diploma, baccalaureate, or equivalent qualification.
