Programme Structure

The objective of the undergraduate bioengineering program is to train bioengineers who possess a strong foundation in the fields of bioengineering and biotechnology, are able to keep pace with global developments in scientific methods and principles, are inquisitive, innovative, and entrepreneurial, have strong interdisciplinary communication skills, possess well-developed problem-solving abilities, and uphold ethical values; and to prepare academics for a career in scientific research.

Audience

Ege University, Department of Bioengineering was established in the year 2000 as the first “Bioengineering Department” in Turkey. The Department of Bioengineering has continued to educate qualified and successful bioengineers to the sector and to train scientists since the day it was founded. 

Lecturers

Currently, our department continues its activities with a total 26 permanent academic member including 12 professors, 5 associate professors, 3 assistant professors, 3 lecturers, 3 research assistants. In addition, there are 3 research assistants who join our department on assignment.

Representing one of the most modern infrastructures of our university, the Bioengineering Department building consists of classrooms, offices and laboratory blocks built on a total surface area of 10 thousand square meters. In the classrooms block of our building, there are 4 undergraduate classrooms with 110 people each, 5 undergraduate classrooms with 60 people each, 6 graduate classrooms with 25 people each, and a computer laboratory with 40 people, and there are 29 offices, 3 study rooms and 2 meeting rooms in the office block. In the laboratories block, it includes 3 student laboratories and 26 research laboratories in different fields of expertise. At the same time, there are 2 pilot facilities and a conference hall for 320 people in our building.
