Classics
During your Classics and Spanish and Latin American Studies course of studies offered by University of Malta , you will be able to have a basic understanding of the Greek and Latin languages and read key texts in their respective original languages.
You will be able to understand the influence that this ancient world has had on the contemporary one, while also enriching your cultural and historic mindset by participating in interdisciplinary action. You are also encouraged to participate in the Erasmus+ mobility period, for a multicultural and diversified learning experience.
Spanish and Latin American Studies
The undergraduate course in Spanish and Latin American Studies, we will provide you with an academic lens of the history, literature and development of the respective languages and countries.
By learning about the culture, key figures and historical periods and progress as recalled through their literature, you will acquire an intricate and deeper understanding and appreciation of the language, its people and the country's current stance and contribution in a national and international manner.
They will also refine your linguistic abilities and thus become more proficient in the language use. We will also encourage you to participate in the Erasmus+ mobility programme for a multicultural and diverse academic journey.
Careers
Upon successfully completing this course, you will have a variety of career opportunities where you will be able to demonstrate your knowledge in the field. Careers, both locally and abroad, can be as an archivist, barrister, editorial assistant, heritage manager, museum or gallery curator, market researcher, Higher education lecturer and media.

Other requirements
General requirements
- The General Entry Requirements are the Matriculation Certificate and a pass at grade 5 or better or at SEC Level 3 in the Secondary Education Certificate examinations in English Language, Maltese and Mathematics.
- The Matriculation Certificate comprises six subjects and is awarded if students obtain a certain number of points including passes in a language, a science subject and a humanistic subject as well as a pass in a subject entitled ‘Systems of Knowledge’. Two of the six subjects must be at Advanced Level, three others at Intermediate Level and Systems of Knowledge.
- If you pursued your secondary education outside Malta, the University would accept comparable qualifications, provided that the required mix of subjects and levels would is comparable to the Matriculation Certificate.
- An Advanced Level pass at Grade C or better in Spanish.
