At the Childhood and Youth with Counselling Skills (Hons) programme offered by University of Sussex you’ll study children’s mental health, inequalities and rapid technological change. You will explore what matters to children and young people, what shapes their lives, and how practitioners can offer effective, ethical support.

In your counselling studies, you’ll:

explore theories and psychological frameworks to support mental health and wellbeing
consider reflective and ethical practice, including intercultural understanding
gain transferable skills, including active listening and self-awareness.

You’ll apply theory to the everyday practice of working with children and young people. You will have placements in years one and two. In year three, a professional development module helps tailor work-related opportunities to your career goals, with the option to study abroad.
