Overview
The Economics with Foundation Year programme offered by University of Leicester offers a comprehensive and critical understanding of the ideas, concepts and issues central to economics, enabling you to better understand these issues and the world around you.
Key Facts
You will study the core areas of microeconomics and macroeconomics and the application of basic mathematical and statistical techniques to the solution of economic problems. By engaging with modern policy issues and economic analysis, you will develop analytical abilities and critical appraisal skills.
In the first year of this course you will be working towards passing a foundation year (year 0), which will enable automatic progression onto year one of BSc in Economics .
The course is run on the University of Leicester campus like any other, and you will be studying alongside other students who applied for, and slightly missed out on, a place on a course similar to yours.
You will be taught by our expert academic staff from across all areas of the School of Business. The course strongly emphasises the development of essential professional and personal skills, which are necessary throughout your studies and beyond.

- A-levels: BCC. We may consider points equivalent from your best three A-levels.
- GCSE: Grade B/5 in Maths and C/4 in English Language.
- BTEC Extended Diploma: DMM
- International Baccalaureate: Pass diploma with 26 points minimum, to include appropriate Maths and English content if not held at GCSE.
- Access to HE: Pass diploma with 24 distinctions in a business-related subject.
