Overview

The Biopharmaceutical Engineering from East China University of Science and Technology traces its roots back to 1955 when it was established as China's first antibiotic manufacturing engineering programme, making a historic contribution to the founding and growth of the country's antibiotic industry. In 2008, it was designated as a National Key Programme, and in 2010, it was approved by the Ministry of Education as part of the Excellence Engineer Programme. In 2012, it was recognized as a National Engineering Practice Education Center in collaboration with industry. The programme passed the national engineering education accreditation twice, in 2016 and 2019. In 2017, the "Intelligent Biomanufacturing" project was approved as a New Engineering Research and Practice Project by the Ministry of Education, and in 2018, the programme was authorized to offer a dual-degree programme in "Bioengineering" in cooperation with Brandenburg University of Technology in Germany. In 2019, the Biopharmaceutical Engineering programme was selected for the Ministry of Education's First-Class Programme Construction, receiving wide recognition for its engineering education both domestically and internationally.

It follows an international education approach, offering various undergraduate exchange programmes with renowned universities and enterprises in the United States, Europe, and Japan. Over the past five years, it has compiled and published seven national planning textbooks and has received a second-class National Teaching Achievement Award, a first-class Teaching Achievement Award from the China Chemical Education Association, and two Shanghai Teaching Achievement Awards. The employment rate of graduates exceeds 98%, covering fields such as biomedicine, energy and chemical engineering, green manufacturing, and food and environmental protection.

Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens and in good health, hold a high school degree or above.

Applicants must be aged over 16, those who are under 18 before August 31 of the application year

Applicants must comply with the regulations （JW〔2020〕No. 12） issued by Ministry of Education of People’s Republic of China.
