To meet the needs of Macau's moderately diversified economic development and to keep pace with the increasing integration of the national and international economies, Macau University of Science and Technology launched a Bachelor of Science degree program in Applied Economics in the 2016 academic year. The program aims to cultivate economics professionals with a solid foundation in economic theory, familiarity with mathematical analysis methods, an understanding of the history, current status, and trends of domestic and international economic development, and an international perspective.
The course duration is generally four academic years, requiring 134 credit points. Courses are conducted in English and Chinese. Applied economics foundations and compulsory courses account for 68 credit points, elective courses account for 24 credit points (including 6 credit points of Applied Economics electives and 18 credit points of Business Administration electives), and general education courses account for 42 credit points.
