Overview
Theology:
It is also intended for students who would like to prepare for church or community related work, including work in religious tourism, through the combination of Theology with Sociology, Psychology, Communication Studies, Philosophy, History or a language subject.
The Bachelor of Arts in Theology and Philosophy offered by University of Malta will prepare you to study and explore the intertwining relationships between faith, philosophy, and human experience. By engaging with a variety of scriptures and contributing to in-class theological debates, you will cultivate a more refined mind-set and approach towards religious thought.
The course features a wide range of units that will cover different facets of theology, which will provide a holistic and unique learning experience. To name a few, some of the units involved range from; Fundamental Patrology, The History of the Church in Malta and the Philosophical Foundations of Theology, to Christian Anthropology, Bioethics, and Prophetic, Apocalyptic and Wisdom Literature.
Philosophy:
In the undergraduate course in philosophy, they will help enrich and refine your philosophical knowledge by providing in depth and intricate lectures on the multifaceted nature of its school of thoughts. During the course you will gain a holistic perspective on the development of philosophical thought through the taught and research curriculum, lecture debates, assignments and presentations.
They will equip you with an accuracy for critical thought, sceptical analysis and a heightened sense of observational and analytical skills that will be fruitful in both of your personal life and field of work. They also encourage you to participate in the Erasmus+ mobility programme for a diverse and multicultural academic learning experience.

If you would like to pursue an academic career or further your studies, you may choose to enrol in a postgraduate course locally or internationally.
Philosophy:
If you are interested in furthering your academic knowledge or are considering an academic career as a teacher or lecturer, then they encourage you to enrol in a postgraduate course offered by the University of Malta. Other career opportunities, both locally and internationally, feature professions such as a newspaper journalist, author, human resources officer and as a business analyst.

General requirements
- The General Entry Requirements are the Matriculation Certificate and a pass at grade 5 or better or at SEC Level 3 in the Secondary Education Certificate examinations in English Language, Maltese and Mathematics.
- The Matriculation Certificate comprises six subjects and is awarded if students obtain a certain number of points including passes in a language, a science subject and a humanistic subject as well as a pass in a subject entitled ‘Systems of Knowledge’. Two of the six subjects must be at Advanced Level, three others at Intermediate Level and Systems of Knowledge.
- If you pursued your secondary education outside Malta, the University would accept comparable qualifications, provided that the required mix of subjects and levels would is comparable to the Matriculation Certificate.
