Film and Animation NABA, New Academy of Fine Arts

Overview

The BA in Film and Animation at NABA prepares students to create audiovisual stories for cinema, television, the web and other digital platforms. Delivered at the NABA Milan and Rome campuses, the programme combines the study of cinema and visual culture with the creative and technical processes involved in writing, directing, cinematography, sound, editing and production.

After a shared first year, students choose one of two specialisations:

• Filmmaking: Students follow the entire production process, from concept development and screenwriting to planning, filming, post-production and sound design. They apply these skills to films, television programmes, web series, music videos and social media content.

• Animation: Students create characters, worlds and visual narratives through art direction, stop-motion, 2D animation and foundational 3D techniques, combining production skills with the development of their own creative approach.

The programme awards 180 CFA and leads to a First Level Academic Degree. Career paths include:

Accreditation

NABA’s Bachelor of Arts qualifications are recognised by the Italian Ministry of University and Research (MUR), have full legal status and are equivalent to the corresponding university degrees. The academic credits awarded can support progression to further study at academies and universities in Italy and abroad, subject to each institution’s admission requirements.
