Overview

The Home Science (Prog.) at University of Delhi offers flexibility to students by offering them to choose from a variety of subjects and giving them multiple exit options. while ensuring that the student gets a strong foundation in the subject and in-depth knowledge and understanding of maximum aspects of the discipline.

The curriculum follows the multi-disciplinary approach as the Discipline Specific Core subjects (DSCs), a student can opt for courses from the syllabus comprising of Discipline Specific Electives (DSEs), Generic Electives (GE), Skill Enhancement Courses (SEC), Ability Enhancement Courses (AEC) and Value Added Courses (VAC). The syllabus is designed to ignite the interest of students and provide them a detailed knowledge of all the five disciplines of Home Science to facilitate their path towards higher studies, career development and employment.

Programme Objectives:

To enable students to demonstrate systematic, extensive and coherent knowledge as well as skills, attitude and values in the core areas of Home Science and specialized knowledge in selected disciplines of Home Science.

To develop proficiency in academics, research and extension activities.
To provide a conducive learning environment that ensures holistic, cognitive as well as affective development of students.
To develop critical and analytical thinking skills in students with scientific reasoning, problem-solving, communication skills and teamwork
To prepare the students for suitable career progression in their respective specialization
To provide an exposure to latest developments in all the streams of Home Science.
To be appreciative and tolerant of pluralistic and multi-cultural society.
To prepare students for various entrance examinations to Post graduate courses in Home Science, Development Studies, Mass Communication, Management, B.Ed. as well GRE, UGC-CSIR NET/JRF and Civil Services Examinations.

Candidates must appear in CUET in any of the following subject combinations:

Combination I: Any one Language from List A + Any three subjects out of which at least two should be from List B1 OR
Combination II: Any one Language from List A + Any one subject from either List B1 or

List B2 + Section III of CUET (General Test) Merit will be based on the best CUET score obtained from any of the above-mentioned combinations of subjects.
