Its areas of specific intervention are located in multidisciplinary domains of Biological and Chemical Sciences and Technologies, in the Fermentation, Pharmaceutical, Chemical and Agri-Food Industries, as well as in the biomedical and environmental areas.The training of the graduate in Chemical and Biological Engineering is based on:- a solid background science training related to the fields of Chemical and Biological Engineering;- a deep knowledge of the curricular units of the area, adequately combining theoretical and practical aspects;- the implementation of new teaching-learning methodologies.

Key learning outcomes

The Graduate in Chemical and Biological Engineering at University of Minho should achieve the following general learning objectives:1. Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge in basic sciences namely in the fields of chemistry, biology, mathematics, physics and programming/computing;2. Demonstrate specific knowledge of the Chemical and Biological Engineering Sciences, particularly in the fields of fluid mechanics, chemical thermodynamics, phase equilibrium, separation processes, economy, simulation and optimization of processes, and chemical and biological reactors;3. Apply appropriate knowledge in the analysis of projects of chemical and biological processes, integrating aspects related to quality management and control;4. Show creativity, pro-activity and communication capacity, as well as the permanent updating of knowledge;5. Reveal leadership skills and ability to work as a team and network, with awareness of citizenship and eco-sustainable performance.
