Overview
The Bachelor of Chemical Engineering Technology (Hons) programme offers three main specializations, which students can choose starting from semester five: process, polymer, and environment. It focuses on teaching students about the design, operation, and maintenance of chemical and material manufacturing processes.
In addition, the programme covers developing new processes, project engineering, and troubleshooting, preparing students for a wide range of industries such as petrochemical, chemical processing, advanced materials, information technology, environment, food, pharmaceutical, and biotechnological industries.
Career Pathways
Chemical engineering is primarily the application of chemical principles to industrial processes and environmental problems that resulting a change in composition and properties of matter to benefit society and the environment. Thus, chemical engineers play an important role in the design, development, construction and operation of industrial processes for the production of diverse range of products as well as in commodity and specialty chemicals. They can focus on one or more of the following roles: managing scale-up processes from plant to full industrial-scale manufacturing, researching new products from trial through to commercialization, modifying and improving the processing or product lines, as well as designing and commissioning new plants.

General requirements
Entry Requirements for National Students:
- Pass Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) or equivalent with minimum Grade C (CGPA 2.0) in Mathematics and ONE (1) relevant science subject OR
- Pass A-Level with minimum Grade D in Mathematics and ONE (1) relevant science subject OR
- Pass matriculation with minimum CGPA 2.0 with minimum Grade C (CGPA 2.0) in Mathematics and ONE (1) relevant science subject OR
- STAM with minimum Jayyid minimum Grade C (CGPA 2.0) in Mathematics and ONE (1) relevant science subject or equivalent.
Entry Requirements for International Students:
- Student must complete 12 years of schooling and obtain general pass in their High School Certificate, A-levels or equivalent with minimum Grade C (60%) in Mathematics and one of the Science subjects (Physics, Chemistry or Biology – depending on the programme).
- IELTS 5.0 or equivalent
