Overview
Throughout theApplied Exercise and Sport Sciences degree from University of Auckland you’ll be taught by knowledgeable scientists, many of whom are major contributors in their field.
You can choose from a wide range of subject areas, and you'll also include a capstone course at Stage 3. The capstone course is student-led. It's your opportunity to integrate and apply your learning to a real-world problem in your chosen subject area.
This specialisation in Applied Exercise and Sport Sciences (AESS) trains students to become exercise scientists: professionals who improve the health and performance of individuals and communities by applying the sciences of human anatomy, physiology, and psychology to assess and prescribe physical and exercise activities.
This programme is being developed to meet the accreditation requirements of Exercise & Sports Science Australia (ESSA) for registration as an internationally recognised Accredited Exercise Scientist (AES), a standard also adopted by Sport and Exercise Sciences New Zealand (SESNZ). Please note that the programme is not yet accredited by ESSA.

This specialisation is the preferred pathway for entry to the postgraduate study in physiotherapy and clinical exercise physiology.
