Overview
Throughout the Anthropological Science degree from University of Auckland you’ll be taught by knowledgeable scientists, many of whom are major contributors in their field.
You can choose from a wide range of subject areas, and you'll also include a capstone course at Stage 3. The capstone course is student-led. It's your opportunity to integrate and apply your learning to a real-world problem in your chosen subject area.
New scientific methods and technologies in anthropological science include the analysis of DNA and ancient DNA, C-14 dating, stable isotope research, metallurgy, the analysis of live and fossil spores, the annual rings of trees, pollen grains, and human and animal remains, as well as the behavioural observation of humans and primates.
This major will give you the chance to apply more science to your studies in archaeology and biological anthropology. Other sciences complement the study of Anthropological Science, for example, Biological Science, Environmental Science, Earth Sciences or Geography.

This programme will integrate studies in Archaeology and Biological Anthropology with science disciplines to produce graduates who are able to work or undertake graduate study in the fields which require dual understandings.
