Overview

The Musicology programme of The University of Auckland specialisation, you will learn how music functions as an art form and how it has changed over time. You’ll think about the role music plays in everyday life. You will also develop understanding, writing, teaching and learning, critical thinking, and analytical skills as you learn to express yourself about music.

The wide range of knowledge will prepare you for diverse careers. The specialisation gives you the chance to prepare a bespoke degree, drawing from the many courses offered across the disciplines of music history, music theory and analysis, and other aspects of music studies.

As a graduate you’ll have the skills and expertise to pursue a wide range of career opportunities in New Zealand and overseas. Building a career on stage is a frequent goal, but the music industry runs on more than performers and composers.
