Law and psychology studies complement each other. While the goal of psychology is to understand human behaviour, the purpose of the law is to control it.

This course offers you invaluable insights to take into your career. Combining modules from both law and psychology, you will:

develop analytical skills and the ability to construct and deconstruct arguments
engage with concepts that are relevant for criminal law research and practice, such as volition, intent and competence
grow empathy and communication skills – essential for building rapport with clients
learn psychological techniques like storytelling, framing and persuasive language
be able to present information coherently and engagingly, using vivid descriptions and appealing to emotions.

You will be taught by academic experts from the Sussex Law School and the School of Psychology. This will give you a deep understanding of the law and of human behaviour from a variety of perspectives, including social, biological and cognitive psychology.You will also have the opportunity to take part in competitions to enhance your skills and employability. We also run events for your benefit, including employer showcases, networking events and guest lectures from leading practitioners.You can also apply to take part in one of our range of Law Clinics to gain real-world experience.
