Overview
The Marine Operations Management course from the Metropolitan College has been designed in order to cover the entire scope of necessary Maritime Science knowledge: ship navigation and handling, safe ship operation and management etc, so that graduates may be able to efficiently and successfully respond to all those multiple tasks assigned on board. Students graduate with the Officer of the Watch (3rd Officer) rank and they may immediately pursue a career at sea as well as a career on land later on, given that the maritime industry offers numerous opportunities for those who have successfully proven their worth on board.
Key facts:
- Deck Officers programmes consist of 6 successive training phases, alternating between time spent at college and time spent at sea. The 5th phase of the programme includes a 6-week training period, during which students will visit the Warsash Maritime School in Southampton, in order to undergo specialized training and participate in examinations at the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA), which issues the relevant Certificate of Competency.
- Whether on cargo or passenger ships, on tankers, containerships or bulk carriers, Deck Officers experience a career full of challenges and they are active members of one of the most thriving industries in the world.
