Overview

The first year of (Hons) Statistical Data Science programme from Heriot-Watt University, Malaysia covers basic mathematics, probability and statistics. The final two years focus on specialist topics of statistical modelling and advanced courses in mathematics and data science. A variety of statistical computer packages are used.

Employability

Due to the near-universal relevance of statistical modelling, career opportunities exist for suitably qualified statisticians in a wide variety of areas, notably, business, insurance, financial consulting, market research, government agencies, the pharmaceutical industry and scientific research in areas such as environmental science.

Heriot-Watt University Malaysia Foundation in Business or Science: BCCC (including B in Mathematics and C in English)

Foundation: Min CGPA 3.5 (further assessment required)
A-Level: BBB (including B in Mathematics)
STPM: BBB (including B in Mathematics)
UEC: 10 points (including A2 in Mathematics and Advanced Mathematics, A2 in English) from 5 subjects not less than B grade.
IB Diploma: 28 points with 6 in HL, AA Mathematics (HL Analysis and Approaches Mathematics)
WACE/SACE: ATAR 85 (including 70% in Mathematics Method/Specialist)
CPU: Further assessment required
Ontario Secondary School Diploma: *90% including Calculus & Vectors and Advance Functions *All applicants need go to through Math for success
Foundation: CGPA 3.5 (further assessment is required)
