Overview

The Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design offered by Kadir Has University aims to train Interior Architects who are capable of designing spaces with a human focus, who can identify users' physical needs through environmental analysis, who can design spaces within the framework of users' psychological and emotional needs through participatory design processes, who can conceptualize their designs through critical questioning within the framework of current theories, who have acquired the knowledge and technical equipment necessary for the realization of designed spaces to international professional standards, who have the confidence to design and work independently, who can also demonstrate good teamwork when working with professionals from both their own and other disciplines, and who are aware of professional responsibility and ethical principles.

Outcomes:

1- Can combine and apply theoretical and technical knowledge regarding design methods and techniques in an integrated architectural design process.

2- Have the skills to research current urban, social situations and legal regulations, develop programs at different scales including future predictions, prepare projects, and implement them in communication with relevant institutions and individuals.

3- They will have the ability to think abstractly, systematically and critically, to reflect their thoughts into the design process and to express them with appropriate representation tools (drawing, model, digital technology, etc.).

4- Have knowledge of architectural approaches, practices, discourses and theories at historical and current, global and local scales, and have the ability to evaluate them by establishing historical and inter-contextual relationships and present them orally and in writing.

5- Ability to take responsibility in various roles within the team in interior architecture design and/or research processes and to share knowledge, skills and competencies.

6- They will have the understanding to approach interior architecture and environmental design with sensitivity to user rights, social justice, professional ethics and responsibilities, and by observing the principles of design for everyone.

7- Be aware of current problems related to the natural and built environment, and have the responsibility to make sustainable designs that respect the natural and cultural heritage.

8- To have basic knowledge and competence in urban and architectural design and to be able to relate this knowledge to current urban and architectural problems and discourses.

9- Have the ability to relate the knowledge gained about the behavior of load-bearing systems and the production of contemporary load-bearing systems to interior architectural design.

10- Have the ability to understand the basic principles and methods of designing interior components, building systems, and building details, and to relate them to interior architectural design.

11- Have the ability to understand the basic principles of production, use and application of building materials and building production techniques and to relate this knowledge to interior architectural design.

12- Has the responsibility to apply the professional practical knowledge acquired regarding architectural design within the framework of social responsibility awareness and ethical values.
