Overview
The Diploma in Aquaculture programme from Curtin University Malaysia focuses on farming and management, equipping you with scientific knowledge and specialised skills in aquaculture farming and practice.
This course integrates key aspects of aquaculture, including breeding, production, processing, and the design of aquaculture systems, all while emphasising the importance of food security. Learning activities are based primarily at Curtin Malaysia, providing you with engaging, hands-on experiences on the farm. Upon completion, you’ll be qualified to pursue careers as aquaculture entrepreneurs, technicians, researchers, research assistants, and aquafeed production officers.
In Year 1, you will focus on developing foundational skills such as writing, speaking, critical thinking, numeracy, and information technology, along with scientific knowledge in aquaculture and fisheries. You will also study fish biology and water quality monitoring. Year 2 builds on this foundation with specialised learning in aquaculture farming, including fish breeding, nutrition, feed, and pond construction. Towards the end of the programme, industrial training will help you gain the practical skills and industry experience needed to become job-ready.
