Overview
The Dental Science programme at Trinity College Dublin provides students with the comprehensive clinical and theoretical knowledge required to practice as a professional dentist. This intensive five-year degree is designed to ensure that graduates can safely deliver primary dental care, including the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of various oral diseases. Students benefit from a curriculum that balances rigorous academic study with extensive hands-on experience.
Why Dental Science at Trinity College Dublin?
This programme is based at the Dublin Dental University Hospital, located directly on the university campus, offering high-standard clinical facilities and advanced information technology. Small class sizes ensure that students receive significant individual attention and staff input throughout their education. The school is highly regarded for its problem-based learning approach, which fosters self-directed study and lifelong learning skills. Students are introduced to the clinical environment in their first year and begin treating their own patients under expert supervision as early as the second year.
