Overview

Throughout the Oral Health course from Adelaide University you’ll learn about the anatomy and physiology of teeth, gums and oral tissues – and how they impact overall health. Discover how to identify and treat common dental conditions, while developing the communication and people skills needed to make a difference in your community.  

You’ll train in high-tech facilities, including our dental simulation clinic. Extensive clinical placements will provide real-world experience working with clients. Under expert guidance and supervision, you’ll build the confidence and skills to excel in a people-centred career. You’ll also have the chance to give back to society – providing essential dental care to those in need via our dental outreach program. 

By graduation, you’ll have the clinical and professional skills to launch your career in oral health therapy, hygiene and promotion. 

Career opportunities:

As an oral health therapist, you’ll play a key role in dental teams, delivering high quality clinical care to people of all ages.  

You might create personalised care plans for people with gum disease. Perhaps you’ll work on improving dental care accessibility in remote communities – or develop innovative educational programs to teach primary school students the importance of good dental hygiene. You might even start your own oral health clinic with the talented dental professionals you meet during your time at Adelaide University.
