Overview
The Health Promotion program at University of Zambia is intended to train a cadre of professionals who will provide leadership in tackling the social determinants of health such as lifestyles and behaviours and the underlying societal factors such as cultural practices, poverty, inequalities, deprivation and discrimination, through research and practice.
This course is designed to equip students with the theoretical and practical skills required for a career in health promotion. Students will learn how to identify the health needs of individuals, groups and communities, develop people’s skills and knowledge in health, advocate for policies and laws that support healthy choices and plan, implement and evaluate health promotion activities.
It is an ideal major for students interested in medicine, pharmacy, dentistry, public health, epidemiology, health psychology, and health behaviour research.
Career Prospects
Graduates of the program are expected to be accomplished administrators, managers, researchers and implementers. Due to their versatility and problem solving skills, they may primarily be employed and perform jobs in many settings some of which may include roles in Administration and Managing in diverse organisations not limited to the following:

- A minimum of five ‘O’ level passes at Credit or better which include English, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and Biology/Agricultural Science; or English, Mathematics, Physical Science/Combined Science, Biology/Agricultural Science and any other subject.
