Overview
The Public Administration degree at University of Zambia contributes immensely to promoting the professions of public administration by imparting skills relevant to the development needs of the country. Through this programme, a cadre of specialists in the field of public administration who contributes solutions to public administration problems is produced.
The programme further lays the basis for scientific research and promotes the mission of the University to create new knowledge through teaching, research and publications.
The public sector is one of the three main sectors of the economy whose proper administration is key for economic development. In this regard therefore, the programme is closely related to both the mission and vision of the University of Zambia and the Country respectively.
Objectives of the programme
At the end of the programme graduates are expected to:
- Show in-depth understanding of public administration.
- Analyse and explain various branches of Public Administration.
- Apply various social science scientific methods in the management of public affairs.
- Improve awareness and knowledge of current issues in the field of public administration.
- Evaluate new developments in the field.

General requirements
In addition to satisfying the General University Entrance Requirements, candidates applying for admission to the School of Humanities and Social Sciences for the degree of Bachelor of Arts in Project Management must satisfy the following requirements:
Must obtain five credits Ordinary Level in the Zambian School Certificate (or equivalent) in:
Group 1: English Language
Group 2: Any three subjects chosen from the following:
- Geography, History, Mathematics.
- Business Studies or Commerce or Economics or Principles of Account.
- Bible Knowledge or Computer Studies or Literature in English or French or Religious Education or Zambian Languages.
- Food and Nutrition or Home Economics or Home Management.
- Art or Art and Design or Design and Communication or Music.
- Civic Education or Development Studies.
- Additional Mathematics.
