Overview
The Education course from Griffith University has a focus on wellbeing and inclusive education, ensuring you enter the classroom with the skills to make a difference. Your studies will follow one of the below paths:
- Bachelor of Education (Primary & Early Childhood)
- Bachelor of Education (Primary)
- Bachelor of Education (Secondary)
In line with its belief that education should be for everyone, you'll develop strategies and resources to prepare you to teach learners from diverse academic and personal backgrounds. Throughout your study, you will hone your curriculum planning skills, and build your confidence to design, deliver and evaluate lessons to ensure you graduate as an experienced and capable educator.
Career opportunities
With real classroom experience in every year of study, you'll be career-ready, sooner.
As a graduate, you'll be eligible to apply for registration with the Queensland College of Teachers. The Early Childhood Major is recognised by the Australian Children's Education and Care Quality Authority. Students wishing to seek teacher registration in another state should seek advice from that state's appropriate professional body.
You will be prepared for a career as a teacher in the independent, Catholic and state education systems in Queensland, as well as nationally and overseas. Your teaching career can also lead to senior positions such as a head of curriculum or positions with central school administration, such as a policy adviser, curriculum officer or principal.
Rather than teaching in schools, you could also choose to work in training settings in industry and government, outdoor education, adult literacy, libraries, educational research, education policy, or consultancy.
