Learning Outcomes

The Biotechnology program from Kazakh Agro-Technical Research University (KATRU) will help you:

Possess theoretical and practical skills in morphology and physiology of animals and plants; distinguish the microstructure of tissues, organs and their relationship; understand the logical connection of morphology and physiology with other disciplines and link them with professional activities; analyze differences in molecular-genetic and cellular levels of life organization; structural and functional organization of hereditary material at the gene, chromosome and genomic levels; the role of biological membranes in providing intercellular interactions
Prepare and conduct a chemical experiment to study the properties and identify the most important classes of organic, inorganic compounds; determine the physico-chemical constants of substances; use the necessary instruments and laboratory equipment during research, process the results of the experiment. Know the main sections and concepts of biochemistry; features of the chemical composition of living organisms; main classes of bioorganic compounds; the structure of bioorganic compounds of the studied classes; main pathways of metabolism
To recognize the directions and methods of research in animal biotechnology; own molecular genetic, cell culture, embryo engineering and transplantation methods. Master the skills of artificial insemination, animal cloning, obtaining chimeric individuals; DNA sequencer, microtechnologies, modern methods and methods of selection of highly productive animals. Acquire practical skills and use their knowledge in insemination, cryopreservation, cultivation and cloning of animals
