The Institute for Global Economics and Social Sciences (IGESS) at Hosei University founded in 1920, has more than 3,000 students, and is accordingly one of the largest and oldest faculties among private universities in Japan. Established in 2018, the IGESS (Institute for Global Economics and Social Sciences) offers English-based degree programs in small classes. The annual student quota is 30 students.

General requirements
- Applicants who have completed or are expected to complete 12 years of formal education in a country besides Japan before enrollment and have qualifications for admission into a college program in the home country or equivalent. The qualifications which Hosei University recognizes depend on educational systems.OR
- Applicants who have graduated or are expected to graduate from a high school in Japan and satisfy either of the following requirements:
- a. Applicants who graduated or are expected to graduate from a high school or midlevel education program before enrollment;
- b. Applicants who have completed or are expected to complete 12 years of formal education before enrollment; or
- c. Applicants who are certified to have fulfilled the same or higher academic requirements as high school graduates based on Article 150 of the Enactment of the School Education Law or Applicants who are expected to receive such certification before enrollment.
