Overview
The Teaching (Primary) program from Avondale University not only qualifies and prepares graduates to competently teach from Foundation to Year 6, but also to be responsible and ethical leaders to children who need positive role models. During the course, students will engage in five professional experience opportunities. These are undertaken at various schools to enable the application of theory in a practical setting. Students may also be able to undertake an overseas professional experience.

Upon successful completion of the Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Teaching (Primary), graduates will be able to:

- An ATAR equal to or above 63.00; or
- An appropriate score in the uniTEST and the Tertiary Online Written Assessment; or
- An appropriate score in the Special Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT)
Applicants with recent secondary education (within the past two years)
- A Selection Rank of 63.00 or above after adjustment factors are applied; or
- International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma with a minimum of 24 points; or
- Year 13 NCEA Level 3 results, identifying university entrance attainment; or
- An appropriate score in the uniTEST and the Tertiary Online Written Assessment; or
- Equivalent overseas secondary qualifications as stated in Appendix 1 of the Admission to Higher Education Undergraduate Courses Policy
