This Accounting Science (Honours) programme offered at University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg is aimed at prospective CA(SA) students that wish to differentiate themselves by including a research component in their studies. The research component is housed in one of three areas (accounting, finance or taxation) and introduces students to academic research in their selected subject area. Students are introduced to academic theory, how to find and use academic articles and theories to address a specific research objective/question, and how to write a formal academic research article or dissertation.

The research component includes lectures, assignments and a mini-research dissertation or article. The component is typically structured such that all assignments and lectures are complete by block 3 so that students can concentrate on their core 4 subjects leading up to the SAICA Board exams in the following year.
