This degree promotes the development of scientific, technical, human and relational skills. Its main objective it to enable students to be capable of practicing duties related to Nursing.

According to the preamble of the law decree number 353/99, of 3rd of September of 1999, this undergraduate degree aims at “ensuring the scientific, technical, human and cultural training for the provision and management of nursing care to individuals, families, groups and community, during their whole vital cycle, in the various levels of prevention.

This University of Madeira undergraduate degree’s foundation is a training model comprised of theoretical, practical and clinical teaching components. Clinical Teaching is the learning component done in field work, in a practical context of health care and nursing provisions, and where students have direct contact with individuals and groups, whether they are healthy or not.

Graduates will be capable of providing and managing general nursing care, in health care and nursing entities, whether in public, private or liberal institutions. Students will also be able to provide services in education or nursing training programs, and/or develop research in the field.

- Declaration under oath that the candidate does not have Portuguese nationality nor is covered by the provisions of numbers 2 and 3 of article 3 of Decree-Law no. 36/2014, of March 10, as currently worded
- Secondary education diploma or equivalent, or, if the academic qualification does not correspond to the Portuguese secondary education, a document proving that it allows, in the country where it was obtained, access to higher education

- Course syllabuses and other documents that prove the subjects taught and obtained by the candidates (not applicable when presenting proof of national exams in your country)
- Proof of completion of national exams in your country (ENEM for candidates from Brazil)
- Documentary evidence attesting proficiency in the language the study cycle is taught- Proof that the candidate holds the Prerequisites (where applicable)
