Overview
Tourism from University of A Coruña covers both general subjects (geography, history, languages, sociology, law, economics) as well as knowledge in specific areas of this sector: heritage, tourism resource management, ICT applied to tourism, territorial tourism resources, tourist taxation, accommodation and restaurants, etc.
Quick Facts:
- Tourism is an essentially multicultural industry, and students will be provided with the opportunity of obtaining an international vision of an innovative sector immersed in a process of constant change, obtained not only in the classroom, but also through international student mobility programmes and the School’s extensive programme of work placements in private and public institutions and companies in Spain and abroad. This combination guarantees a real insight into the sector that will stand students in good stead for their future careers.
- Students require an understanding of the principles of the constantly evolving tourism sector in order to analyse its political, administrative and economic scope. They must acquire social and communication skills as well as the ability to work in various languages in multicultural environments, applying various business procedures (accommodation, hospitality, destination management, heritage management, etc.) both in the public and private sector.
- They must be capable of assessing tourism potential, analyse the impact generated by the industry, detect planning requirements and draw up commercial policies and strategies that enable them to administer the necessary human and material resources and territories based on the principle of sustainability and plan tourism in varying social and cultural environments.
