Overview

(Hons) History with Politics from University of Buckingham has been carefully designed and fine-tuned by Buckingham’s team of experienced and high-calibre historians.

Quick Facts:

Students begin with survey courses covering major themes in the political, economic, and cultural history of Britain and Europe from the 1500s to today. They then advance to more specialised subjects including empire, global migration, and heritage studies. The degree culminates in an independent dissertation, utilising skills that have built up over the entire period of study at Buckingham. So the programme not only teaches history; it also teaches you to think historically and to research and write history.
Similarly, Politics modules often have a heavily historical element, presenting contemporary American or Cuban politics with reference to those nations’ pasts. By taking History with Politics, you will finish your course with a richer understanding of both the world in which you live and the past societies that shaped it.
Because of our two-year degree, we find that the age range of our student body varies between those who have recently completed A-levels (or equivalent) to more mature students. Age is no barrier to learning and we welcome all applications from suitably qualified students.
