Overview

The Fine Arts (Honours) - Visual Art program at University of Melbourne is a year-long program that allows you to undertake advanced work in the visual arts and further develop your capacity as a better informed, skilled and more articulate visual artist.

With a focus on independently led studio practice, you will be expected to develop studio projects that require investigation and experimentation with a range of concepts, materials, techniques and processes.

Critical and theoretical studies and professional arts practice skills subjects provide you with the skills to pursue the practice of a professional working artist, and allow you to critically engage in the debates of contemporary visual art. You will have opportunities to engage the wider public in your work with regular student exhibitions and the annual end-of-year exhibitions.

Areas of study within our Visual Art department include Drawing and Printmaking, Painting, Photography, Sculpture and Critical and Theoretical Studies.
