Overview
The University of Lincoln's Logistics Management (Hons) programme is part of our Work-Based Distance Learning portfolio (WBDL). Designed to develop students' capacity to successfully manage people, operations and systems within a logistics environment, it was developed for individuals who already have a recent level 5 qualification or equivalent and who wish to top this up to a full BSc.
Created to develop confident, capable professionals with the skills to lead people, manage systems, and drive operational excellence within logistics environments, it is delivered by the Lincoln International Business School. The degree supports learners already working in the field - whether employed, self-employed, freelance, voluntary, or other professional capacities - to build on their existing experience and professional qualifications.
Students develop a broad range of logistics management skills, including leadership, budgeting, organisational management, and systems thinking. Elective modules allow students to shape their own learning journey, tailoring their choices to reflect their professional context, responsibilities, and the particular logistics function in which they operate. This degree empowers learners to apply new insights directly within their professional setting, shaping their own development and contributing real value to their organisation, enterprise, or area of practice.
Key Features
- Highly relevant, workplace focused learning
- Assessment methods that combine theory, practice, application, and reflection
- Alignment with professional standards, including accreditation by the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT), supporting progression into professional membership routes
How You Are Assessed
For each module there will be an assignment brief which will include details of learning outcomes, the assignment tasks, and weighting of the assignment tasks. Students will submit work using the Virtual Learning Environment. The programme uses both draft and final assessments. Draft assessments are an integral part of the learning process, and students will have opportunities to receive feedback electronically, on all assessment components in line with the University of Lincoln regulations.
Due to the work-based learning nature of the programme, portfolios will be used extensively where appropriate combined with alternative assessment methods. Portfolio assessments could include reports, case studies, descriptions, reviews, reflective learning accounts, presentations, projects, proposals and plans, with accompanying critical commentary. Portfolio assessments are designed to enable students to demonstrate how they have applied knowledge and understanding, skills and behaviours in a real work environment and to achieve real work objectives.
