Overview

University of Malaya's Usuluddin program goal is to advance the field of Usuluddin studies in particular Islamic Law based on the tradition of Islamic knowledge and modern scientific methods through quality education for the nation and humanity.

The main method of teaching is the conventional made of lectures and tutorials. However, online learning are also conducted using the application of SPECTRUM and online video conferencing.

The Department of Islamic Studies was formed in 1959 as a result of a formal relationship between the then Islamic College of Malaya, and the University Malaya. Since then the Council for Islamic Colleges functioned as the executive controller to the department, whilst the Senate of the University Malaya monitors all academic matters.
