Overview
This degree programme offers an in-depth exploration of Arabic, Islamic, and Middle Eastern studies, equipping students with essential language skills and cultural insights. Learners will engage with one of the world's major languages, Arabic, while gaining a robust understanding of the historical, political, and religious contexts that shape the Middle East, North Africa, and the broader Muslim world. The curriculum is designed to enhance both spoken and written Arabic proficiency, which is further developed through a mandatory year abroad in an Arabic-speaking country. This immersive experience allows students to practise colloquial Arabic and engage with the local culture through a tailored curriculum.
Throughout the course, students will delve into the study of Islam, a significant and influential religion globally, and examine contemporary issues relevant to the Middle East and North Africa.
