Overview

In the English and American Literature (Hons) pathway from American College of Greece focuses on how language and literary texts are structured and how readers and listeners alike develop and use a range of interpretive strategies to make sense of particular works and/or discourses. In the English and American Literature pathway, students learn to interpret literature through close reading of individual texts; to explore and examine the wider historical, political and social contexts in which literary works and/or theories were produced and formulated; and to develop informed perspectives on authors, works, movements and theories significant within an academic context and relevant to broader cultural issues.

A number of graduates have successful careers in teaching, editing, journalism, PR, banking, business and industry, translation, speech therapy, and law while others move on to postgraduate studies in English and related fields.

If none of the above can be provided, then the candidate will have to take the English Placement Test administered by the College.

IELTS Academic (6.5 or above)

Students may also qualify to take WP1010 by submitting evidence of fluency based on graduation from an English speaking secondary school/programme.
