Overview
At Business Management With Foundation Year (Hons) from University of Derby you’ll learn new ways of thinking as well as a host of practical skills, and be challenged to apply these to real-world business and management scenarios, through projects, placements and internships. On this course, everyone gets to do business as well as learn about business.
The highlights
- We're looking for students who want to 'do' business, as well as learn about business — is that you? From the get-go, you'll be thinking about how to apply what you're learning, through topical case studies, business simulations, real consultancy projects and work placements.
- Once you've completed your Foundation Year, you can continue on the general BA (Hons) Business Management degree or choose one of the following:
- BA (Hons) Business Management and Entrepreneurship
- BA (Hons) Business Management and Finance
- BA (Hons) Business Management and Human Resource Management
- BA (Hons) Business Management and Marketing
- BA (Hons) Business Management, Supply Chain and Logistics
- All courses are accredited by the Chartered Management Institute, which means you gain an extra professional qualification on top of your degree as well as professional mentoring and access to CMI member benefits
Careers
- By the end of the course you will have sound business acumen and a wide range of practical skills. You’ll graduate with not only a degree in Business Management, but with an extra professional qualification (the CMI Diploma) and a host of real-world experience, so you’ll already have a head start in the careers market.
- Because this is such a broad degree, lots of different job roles will be open to you, in areas such as project management, analysis, consultancy, accountancy, operations, human resource management, marketing, sales, logistics and finance. Previous students have gone on to work for prominent employers — including Deloitte, PwC, Capita, the BBC, DHL, Barclays, Tata, Mott MacDonald and IBM — while others have set up their own businesses.
